Who is Harold?

Harold the Giraffe is the mascot of Life Education Trust.

He works in the mobile classroom with the educator, to demonstrate what happens when things go according to plan and what happens when they don't.

Harold is a friendly character and children's responses show that Harold has a huge impact in re-enforcing the messages we teach:

  • Giraffes are tall. We teach children to stand tall and be proud of who they are.
  • The pattern on a giraffe's skin is unique, like a fingerprint. We teach children that they too are unique and special.
  • Giraffes have big hearts. We teach children to be kind to others.
  • Giraffes have long necks. We teach children to be prepared to stick their necks out and support their friends.

You’ll find Harold in our mobile classrooms, at school visits and at community events across West Auckland.  For many tamariki, he’s the reason they remember Life Education for years, a trusted companion who makes learning meaningful, memorable and full of joy.

Harold reminds every child:

“You are unique, you are important, and you can make great choices”
